Hello friends!
A couple of days ago I was inspired to paint one of my small 5 x 7 inch canvases. I squeezed a few drops of pink and red Liquitex acrylic inks onto the canvas and let them drip down, and then spread them out a bit with a flat brush and water. Then I added on some layers of thicker, Liquitex basics paint to cover more of the canvas. And while it was still wet, I added more acrylic inks. Things went back and forth like this, and it was a lot of fun to experiment and play with my art materials.
When the surface of the canvas was dry, I used a beige Posca Paint Pen to draw out a female face and butterfly. Then I took a black Posca Paint Pen, with a small, thin nib, and drew over the beige lines to put in the permanent lines of the face and make corrections.
Once those lines dried, I took out my Caran d’Ache oil neopastels (which are oil pastels), in shades of beige and light pink, to fill in parts of her face (like the cheeks and nose). I used my fingers to spread and mix the pigment directly on the canvas. Next time I’m going to try q-tips for this. I recommend having plenty of baby wipes to clean your fingers and pastels
.I added some words with my Poscas. The words were just something I was feeling in the moment. I feel like I have a lot in my life I’d like to transform, and these words cement in my mind that that’s what will happen.
On another note… my black cat Hun bun has a cyst developing. I’m calling on Monday to make an appointment with the vet. There is a very good chance that her treatment will cost a lot of money, and I have a limit on what I can spend. She’s otherwise in pretty good health - eat and drinks regularly, nothing unusual about the litterbox, she gets hyper and runs and jumps like a cat half her age… so it would really be very sad if she needs surgery and it costs to much and she’d have to be put down… when she’s otherwise in good health. And then there’s the possibility of cancer… which is horrible.
Ahh I don’t mean to leave you with these thoughts. I would appreciate any good and healing vibes you could send her way.
Thank you for listening. I’ll leave you with a picture of my lil fur buns.
Lovely painting Sasha. Hope Hun Bun heals up beautifully and without huge cost. ❤️
I’ll be sending healing energy to your little furry friend and I hope they are able to find a simple, inexpensive solution 💜 your painting is lovely. I enjoyed reading your process!
